To be a low-impact traveler, follow these general guidelines:
- Do not crowd large groups into small camping areas.
- Do not widen trails.
- Do not scar the ground with campfires.
- Do not leave litter or food behind.
- Do not disturb the vegetation. In many areas of the state, it can take 50-200 years to recover.

You will find many tour operators in Alaska that operate in an environmentally sound manner and support local environmental needs.
