Adventure Green Alaska
Sustainable tourism may be defined as travel to natural areas that is beneficial to local economies, respectful of the environment and sensitive to indigenous cultures. Adventure Green Alaska (AGA) is a voluntary certification program for tourism businesses operating in Alaska that meet standards of economic, environmental and social sustainability. It has also been the only sustainable certification program in Alaska since 2009. AGA encourages tourism businesses to evaluate their operations and determine whether they use – or could be using – best sustainable management practices. Businesses certified by AGA are leaders in the tourism industry. They are progressive companies that believe outstanding Alaska experiences can also be sustainable and of benefit to visitors and hosts alike.
