Visitors Centers
Alaska is incredibly diverse. One great way to take a deeper dive and find out more is to ask a local — and discover your own authentic Alaska. Local convention and visitors bureaus and chambers of commerce can be found in communities across the state. Request a print or digital Official State Vacation Planner before your trip and, while you're here, stop by a visitors center where knowledgeable staff will give you insider tips on the best hiking spots, restaurants, museums, and more. To find out more about Alaska’s state and national public lands, visit one of the Alaska Public Lands Information Centers in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Ketchikan, or Tok.

✨Scenes from Kenai Fjords National Park ✨
I’ve been to this park 3 times and I fall in love more each time! Located just over 2 hours from Anchorage, it’s certainly one of the most accessible Alaska national parks.
While it’s easy to drive to, the vast majority of the park is only accessed from the water, so you’ll definitely want to hop on a boat while you’re there!
Here is a mini-guide to visiting Kenai Fjords 👇
Make sure to leave no trace - pack out all of your trash, come prepared (carry bear spray for the Harding Icefield trail), and never feed or approach wildlife.
🥾Hike to Exit Glacier (2.2 miles), and/or up to the Harding Icefield (8.6 miles with a lot of elevation gain) if you’re up for a challenge
🛶Take a kayaking tour with kayakadventuresworldwide and get up close and personal with a glacier!
⛴️Take a wildlife cruise with majormarinetours and look for whales, otters, sea lions, puffins and more!
☕Take some time to explore the town of Seward, which has lots of shops and restaurants. My favorite spots are resurrect.art for coffee and art, lonechicharron for tacos, cookeryseward for fine dining, rowdy.radish for a breakfast spot that opens early, and Red’s Burgers to eat on a school bus
🗺️Stop at the Kenai Fjords visitor center for a souvenir, stamp or information.

🇺🇸Holgate Glacier, Kenai Fjords National Park, Alaska🇺🇸
•
The photos were taken on the Glacier & Wildlife Cruise with majormarinetours. An absolute recommendation for every visit to Alaska!
•
Holgate Glacier is a tidewater glacier located in Kenai Fjords National Park, Alaska. It flows from the Harding Icefield and descends into Holgate Arm, a fjord off Aialik Bay. As an active glacier, it calves icebergs into the sea, creating a stunning display for visitors.
Holgate Glacier is one of the more stable glaciers in the region, though it has shown signs of retreat due to climate change. It is accessible by boat tours from Seward, offering breathtaking views of Alaska’s icy wilderness.

Denali National Park and Preserve, located in Alaska, USA, is a vast wilderness spanning over 6 million acres, renowned for its breathtaking landscapes, diverse wildlife, and the towering Denali (formerly Mount McKinley), North America's highest peak at 20,310 feet. Established in 1917, the park is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, offering unparalleled opportunities for hiking, wildlife viewing, and experiencing the raw beauty of the Alaskan wilderness.
The park's ecosystems range from low-elevation taiga forests to high alpine tundra and snowy mountains, providing habitats for a variety of wildlife. Among its most iconic residents are grizzly bears and black bears, which can often be spotted foraging for food in the park's open meadows or along riverbanks. These majestic creatures are a highlight for visitors, though it’s essential to observe them from a safe distance and follow park guidelines to ensure both human and bear safety.
Denali is also home to other wildlife, including moose, caribou, Dall sheep, wolves, and over 160 species of birds. The park’s single 92-mile road offers limited vehicle access, with most visitors exploring via shuttle buses or guided tours, allowing for minimal environmental impact and maximum immersion in nature.
In addition to wildlife, Denali boasts stunning scenery, from the rugged peaks of the Alaska Range to the serene beauty of Wonder Lake. Activities like backpacking, mountaineering, and ranger-led programs provide opportunities to connect with the park’s natural and cultural history, including the traditions of the indigenous Athabascan people.
Denali National Park is a testament to the untamed beauty of Alaska, offering visitors a chance to experience one of the world’s last great wildernesses. Whether you’re marveling at the sight of a grizzly bear, gazing at the towering Denali, or simply soaking in the tranquility of the wild, the park leaves an indelible impression.
