Tutka Tours offers trips which explorer Kachemak bay. We specialize in small group tours exploring the natural environment of the bay.

You will explore Kachemak Bay on a small cruise boat which departs the Homer Harbor. Our trips offer a customized experience for guests. Each trip is a unique voyage based on the interest of the guests and what could be seen on that specific day. No trip is the same. Your experience will be guided by the captain who also is an expert naturalist with extensive knowledge of the bay. The tour is limited to five passengers allowing easy dialogue with the captain and each guest.

Tour Details 


What to Expect 

· 2.5 - 8-hour tours aboard a 30’ catamaran piloted by an experienced USCG licensed captain.

· Explore fjords, islands, bays, oyster farms and small communities reached only by boat and float planes.

· The captain, an expert naturalist, will be your guide to identify birds, land and marine mammals, discuss forest ecology and the geology of the bay.

· Interpretive stops providing information on Native Americans who have lived in the bay for thousands of years, archeology sites, Russian-American history and settlers of the bay.

· Small group size limited to 5 passengers.

Boat Information 

· Twin hulled catamaran offering a stable platform for wildlife viewing

· Retractable deck cover for inclement weather

· Heated cabin

· Bathroom on board

Provided 

· We offer complimentary water, & soft drinks on every tour 

· 5-hour tours offer fruit, muffins, hot drinks. 8-hour tours include a boxed lunch

· High-quality, waterproof marine binoculars

· Interpretive material including field guides, books, maps and nautical charts 

· Professional natural sound audio equipment is provided on the 5 and 8 Hour Tours 

What to Bring 

· Warm layered clothing

· A waterproof outer layer is highly recommended

· Camera

Cancellation Policy 

· Collection of 50% deposit at the time of booking

· If cancelled 60 days before tour departure, the client will receive a full refund of the amount paid 

· If canceled 72 hours or more before the tour, the client will receive a refund of 50% of their deposit

· If canceled 24 hours or less before the tour, or if the clients are no-shows, no refund will be issued

· Customers will also receive a full refund or credit in case of operator cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
