Experience Christmas in Ice

Get into the holiday spirit with the six-week Christmas in Ice competition that promotes ice carving, arts and education. The competition draws local and international ice carvers to compete in various competitions. There’s even an Amateur Exhibition so everyone can get in on the fun! Located next door to the Santa Claus House, the family friendly event features artistic masterpieces carved by professional sculptors alongside junior, family and amateur carvings. Stroll past illuminated ice sculptures of polar bears, Santa, sleighs and other whimsical designs or take a photo in the ice throne. Glide down the mile-long ice slide or stroll through the ice maze in the Elf’s Icy Playground. Watch as Santa Claus himself makes an appearance on Christmas Day and bundle up for the Snowflake Drop and fireworks on New Year’s Eve. Rent sleds to slide through the sculptures or stroll along with hot cocoa in hand. Be sure to dress warmly for this mostly outdoors wintertime Alaska festival.
