Sheldon Museum & Cultural Center

The nationally accredited Haines Sheldon Museum showcases the history, art and culture of the Chilkat Valley region. Centrally located, the museum is a great place to start your Haines visit. The must-see exhibit “Everything From Afar Drifts Ashore” explores the 19th century transformation of Jilkáat Aani, a protected Tlingit stronghold, to an area of mixed settlement. Notable objects include a wall of Chilkat blankets, the Eldred Rock Lighthouse lens, spruce root baskets, and dugout canoes. Other exhibit areas include a children’s interactive room and a rotating exhibit space. Fall & Winter Hours begin October 1st: Mon – Sat 1-4pm, Sun CLOSED. Summer Hours resume in May: Mon – Sat 9-5pm, Sun 1-4. Admission: $10, Kids and active military free sheldonmuseum.org
