The nationally accredited Haines Sheldon Museum showcases the history, art and culture of the Chilkat Valley region. Centrally located, the museum is a great place to start your Haines visit. The must-see exhibit “Everything From Afar Drifts Ashore” explores the 19th century transformation of Jilkáat Aani, a protected Tlingit stronghold, to an area of mixed settlement. Notable objects include a wall of Chilkat blankets, the Eldred Rock Lighthouse lens, spruce root baskets, and dugout canoes.
