Islands and Ocean Visitor Center

The Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge’s Alaska Islands & Ocean Visitor Center, located on the Sterling Highway, is a state of the art interpretive and educational facility that focuses on marine life. Discover the wonders of the nation’s most far-reaching wildlife refuge on a self-guided tour, featuring sculpted re-creations of wildlife, or join a ranger-guided talk or walk June – August. The center also features an award-winning movie, the Journey of the Tiglax, a nature store, and an outdoor trail to Bishop’s Beach. Explore, experience, and discover the natural treasure. Open daily from 9 am to 5 pm, Memorial Day to Labor Day. Winter hours Tuesday - Saturday noon to 5 pm Admission is free.
