Alaska Highway

Alaska Highway

The 1,387 mile long Alaska Highway starts in Dawson Creek, British Columbia in Canada and ends in Delta Junction, Alaska. Driving the Alaska Highway through Canada is a bucket-list adventure for road trippers in cars, RVs, and camper vans. The route is famous for its rugged scenery, wildlife, and remote destinations.

The Alaska portion of the Alaska Highway stretches from the Canadian border through Northway and Tok before ending in Delta Junction. From there, travelers can continue on the Richardson Highway to Fairbanks. This region of Interior Alaska also includes the towns of Chicken and Eagle — connected via the Taylor Highway — and Paxson, by way of the Richardson Highway. Here, you can explore the Tetlin National Wildlife Refuge near Northway, visit the Alaska Public Lands Information Center in Tok for information on outdoor activities and trip planning, explore Rika’s Roadhouse and the five state recreation areas near Delta Junction, visit a dog mushing kennel near Paxson, or head up to Chicken for the annual summer music festival.
