Fly through the Sky

Visitors who want to see more of the area should take to the sky. Flightseeing tours from leave from McCarthy’s airstrip to take travelers on a trip around the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve to see a number of the mountains and glaciers it has to offer. Scenic flights can be as short as 30 minutes or much longer. Some tour operators even have a custom tour option with a pilot who will take visitors wherever they want to go in the park. Getting above the peaks allows visitors to take in the massiveness and grandeur of the park, its mountains, glaciers and waterways. As visitors soar over the park, their pilot will tell them about the history of the area and different natural features that are seen from the flight. For the experienced and courageous, flightseeing tours can even double as a backcountry drop-off for hiking and camping trips.
