Last year, just before the snow came, I had the opportunity to take on an amazing assignment. It was a collaboration between travelalaska and natgeotravel, where we explored how travelers could experience Indigenous culture in southeast Alaska through local businesses and art. For two weeks, tlingit.witch and I visited some of our favorite local businesses, scenic locations and got to meet some amazing artists we admire.
I’ve included some of my favorite photos from our adventure above, but in the coming week, I will be sharing individual posts about the artists we profiled.

First time exploring a glacier cave in Alaska ❄️ This hike was just over a 4km (about 2.5 miles) round trip to the cave so it’s super accessible. What impressed me the most was seeing these insane ice crystal formations on the ceiling of the cave, which got super low the further you went in. I wish I brough my macro lens because the detail was truly incredible, but 24-70mm still did a great job capturing it. Definitely one of those low-risk, high reward type of hikes🥾(swipe to the end for some crispy ice crystal ASMR🔊)

I suppose now is as good a time as any to tell everyone what a few of you already know: lavieenjax and I are starting a glacier and wildlife tour company in Seward this summer. Having my own boat and working for myself has been a goal of mine for a very long time, and the opportunity finally presented itself. There’s still a ton of work to do before the season starts, but go check out expeditionsnorthwest (and obviously smash those like and follow buttons), and stay tuned for what we’re going to be doing this summer. A few still from Petersburg lake cabin also featured in today’s reel. Camping there last fall we had perfect weather, with perfect reflections on the lake and beautiful sunsets. It’s such a cozy spot to spend a few days exploring, hiking, fishing, and reading by candle light.
Also featured are a few photos from a years ago trip in winter when the lake was still frozen over and we could wander across it. Certainly a different vibe in winter verses fall, but loved both seasons at the cabin. I love going back to the same place in different seasons.

Last year, just before the snow came, I had the opportunity to take on an amazing assignment. It was a collaboration between travelalaska and natgeotravel, where we explored how travelers could experience Indigenous culture in southeast Alaska through local businesses and art. For two weeks, tlingit.witch and I visited some of our favorite local businesses, scenic locations and got to meet some amazing artists we admire.
I’ve included some of my favorite photos from our adventure above, but in the coming week, I will be sharing individual posts about the artists we profiled.
