We traveled from Tennessee the 23rd of May with a stop over in Seattle. To many time zones to tackle the trip to Anchorage all in one day. We were on our own before and after our cruise out of Seward, but the very first thing after the breathtaking scenery that impressed us was the PEOPLE. So warm and friendly and helpful.
We'd done our homework before we arrived and knew it was impossible to "see it all" in only two weeks! Though our trip followed the route of land /cruise tours, we truly enjoyed the surprises because we were on our own! Moose crossing the highway just a couple of miles out of Anchorage. Watching the fantastic wildlife! Dahl sheep, more American Eagles than we've ever seen before feasting on the fish caught in pools at low tide on Cook Inlet.
We took the advice of a family netting Hooligans at 20 Mile River before our Glacier Jet Boat ride and drove through the tunnel to Whittier for lunch. What an engineering marvel!
The train from Anchorage to Seward revealed Marmot and Trumpeter Swans and the onboard naration was a definate plus.
We boarded the "Marine Harbour Cruise" before our cruise and were delighted at seeing, all the many variety of birds, Stellar Sea Lions, Sea Otters and humpback whales! Most of which was either booked online from home (Anchorage Visitors & Convention Website links) and from the Anchorage Downtown Visitors Center......very helpful!
The cruise onboard the Summit of the inside passage was the best! Best service, food, staff , itinery and fun, fun, fun!
If you have not gone, do. If you have, like us you will likely want to go back again, and again and again. Steve & Roxane from Tennessee
