The Wilderness Express is a small fleet of luxury dome railcars that are pulled by the Alaska Railroad on the end of their Denali Star train. Daily summer service is offered to Anchorage, Talkeetna, Denali Park and Fairbanks. The railcars offer unsurpassed 360 degree views from the second level dome, and feature a private dining room and observation platform as well. The Wilderness Express Dome Railcars offer a similar service level to the Alaska Railroad GoldStar Domes. However, rates on the Wilderness Express can run as much as 45% less than the GoldStar Domes on select trips.
You can compare and book all Alaska train options with AlaskaTrain.com. This includes the Alaska Railroad Adventure Class and GoldStar Dome Service, the Wilderness Express, the McKinley Explorer, and even scheduled deluxe bus service from the Park Connection Motorcoach.
