Lake Louise, Alaska, population 99, lies 32 miles northwest of Glennallen, on the western border of the Mat-Su Borough, north of the Glenn Highway. The Lake Louise Road is 19.3 paved miles long, from 159.8 of the Glenn Highway.
The area encompasses 47.9 sq. miles of land and 26.4 sq. miles of water. The temperatures in January range from -9 to 34; in July 38 to 62. Annual precipitation is 16.5 inches with over 50 inches of snowfall.
Lake Louise State Recreation Area is located at mile 17.2 on the Lake Louise Road. The State recreation area has two campgrounds, Lake Louise and Army Point. The campgrounds have 62 campsites all with fire rings and picnic tables; the campgrounds have two wheel chair accessible restrooms, and water pumps. Lake Louise campground has a covered picnic shelter, a boat launch and a walking trail.

Lake Louise is well known for its lake trout; ice fishing is popular during winter months. Lake Louise and the surrounding area are home to a great variety of wildlife and birds. It is the only known recorded freshwater nesting site for cormorants. This nesting site, known as Bird Island is also a rare inland nesting site for gulls. The Lake Louise area is the summer home to trumpeter swans, loons and many other water fowl. Caribou often spend the winter in the area and moose are a common site.
Activities of the area include great fishing, boating, bird watching, hiking, biking, snow machining, skiing, skating, hunting, Northern Lights viewing and it is a great spot to just relax.
