My wife and I spent nine days in southcentral Alaska in July 2006 and had a wonderful time. The activity I enjoyed the most was my bike ride on the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail in Anchorage. I rented a bike downtown and within minutes I was on the trail. The scenery is so beautiful, and the trail is so wooded much of the way that it is hard to believe that you are so close to the business district of a large metropolitan area. The trail is over 10 miles in length, so you can get a good workout as well. The highlight for me was being stopped by a large bull moose along the trail. I told a young lady next to me that this sure never happens to me when I ride my bike back home!
